Radio-Memphis proudly welcomes, Sharde Thomas & The Rising Stars Fife & Drum Band, LIVE in the studio, Sunday evening July 31, 2022, 8:30-10:30pm CDT, U.S. for a very special “Booze & Blues” show!!

Sharde and band will be with host Ric Chetter and co-host Natalie performing live as well as playing some of their recorded music throughout the show!

The Rising Stars Fife and Drum was founded by Otha Turner in the early 60’s. The Rising Stars performed a mixture of Folk, Blues and Gospel. Otha released “Everybody Hollerin’ Goat” with Birdman Records in 1998 and released “From Senegal to Senatobia” in 1999. The Rising Stars performs a mixture of Pop, Hip Hop, Blues and Gospel. The Rising Stars have worked with greats like Eric Clapton, Mavis Staples, Cyndi Lauper, Bobby Rush, The North Mississippi All-stars, Birds of Chicago, The Wandering, Luther Dickinson, Cedric Burnside, R.L. Boyce, and many others. The Rising Stars performed in Southaven, MS at the grand opening for the Tanger Outlet Mall in 2015, performed in Washington, DC at the grand opening for the National Museum of African American History and Culture in 2016. The Rising Stars performed at the Cognac Blues Passions, Chicago Blues Festival, Blues Rules Crisser Festival, New Orleans Jazz Festival, and many more. The Rising Stars music is featured in “Gangs of New York” and “Black Snake Moan”.
